  2.    $matchitem(<array> <word>)
  3.    $rmatchitem(<array> <pattern>)

  5. Technical:
  6.    These functions are used to search through the given array for the item
  7.    that best matches the given word or pattern.
  8.  
  9. Practical:
  10.    These functions are analogous to $match() and $rmatch().  Given a word
  11.    or pattern, they search through the given array's contents and look
  12.    for the best match, if any.  Basically, the array's contents behave as
  13.    if they were the list of words or patterns passed to $match() or
  14.    $rmatch().

  17.    > -1   item number in array that matched
  18.      -1   could not find specified array
  19.      -2   could not find a matching item
